We built the AI tourism app over 12 weeks: (1) AI travel planner: before arrival, guests describe their interests ("me gusta la arquitectura modernista, la comida local, y pasear por barrios con encanto" — I like modernist architecture, local food, and walking through charming neighborhoods) and the AI generates a personalized day-by-day itinerary. The planner understands Barcelona intimately — Gaudí architecture, El Born tapas bars, Barceloneta beach timing, Gothic Quarter walking routes — and creates plans that avoid tourist traps while matching the guest's pace, budget, and interests. The AI adjusts recommendations based on weather, day of week (market days, museum closures), and seasonal events.
(2) Multilingual AI concierge: in-app AI concierge that communicates in 8 languages (Spanish, Catalan, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese) and handles requests — restaurant reservations (connecting to TheFork/ElTenedor API with AI-selected recommendations), attraction tickets (Skip-the-line Sagrada Família, Park Güell timing), transportation (cab booking, metro guidance), and general questions about Barcelona. The concierge learns guest preferences through interactions. (3) AR city guide: an augmented reality layer that overlays historical and architectural information on the camera view — point the phone at a Gaudí building and see construction dates, architectural significance, and hidden details. The AR guide uses on-device visual recognition to identify 500+ Barcelona landmarks and buildings. (4) In-hotel AI services: room service ordering, spa booking, late checkout requests, and maintenance reporting through the app — AI-prioritized and routed to hotel staff.
The AI predicts guest needs: if a guest orders coffee at 7am three days in a row, the app suggests pre-ordering. (5) Post-stay engagement: after checkout, the AI generates a personalized trip summary (photos, places visited, restaurant receipts) and suggests future trips to the group's other properties based on the guest's demonstrated preferences. (6) AEPD compliance: on-device AR processing, DPIA completed, transparent data usage, and consent-based personalization. Guest data handling follows AEPD hotel-specific guidance.
