Our Berlin WhatsApp projects are built around German regulatory compliance from day one. We start with a GDPR data processing impact assessment (DPIA) for the WhatsApp integration — mapping what personal data flows through the messaging channel, where it is stored, and how consent is managed. Double opt-in (Confirmed Opt-In, required in Germany for marketing messages under UWG §7) is built into every subscription flow. We implement granular consent categories: transactional messages (order confirmations, shipping updates — legitimate interest basis under GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), marketing messages (promotions, recommendations — explicit consent required), and service messages (support conversations — contract performance basis). The technical stack integrates Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform with German e-commerce systems: Shopify, Shopware (Germany's leading e-commerce platform), JTL-Wawi, and enterprise ERPs (SAP S/4HANA). For the critical German returns workflow, we build WhatsApp flows that handle Widerrufsrecht declarations, generate return labels, track return shipments, and process refunds — turning the painful returns process into a conversational flow that actually improves customer loyalty. Message templates undergo German legal review before submission to Meta for approval, ensuring compliance with UWG and Preisangabenverordnung (PAngV, price indication regulations) for any commercial content.
