Singapore's AI market is Southeast Asia's most mature. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) actively encourages AI adoption in financial services through its Veritas framework for responsible AI and the FEAT (Fairness, Ethics, Accountability, Transparency) principles. DBS Bank, OCBC, and UOB are deploying AI for credit scoring, fraud detection, and customer service — but MAS TRM guidelines require demonstrable control over AI model risk management. In healthcare, SingHealth and NUHS are exploring AI for diagnostics and clinical decision support under the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) regulatory framework. Government agencies under GovTech Singapore use AI for citizen services, but sensitive data processing must stay within government infrastructure. The AI Singapore (AISG) national programme, based at NUS, produces research-grade talent and has developed SEA-LION — Southeast Asia's own large language model optimized for regional languages including Malay, Tamil, and Mandarin.
